Your 2 year old will:
Learn that God loves and cares for us.
Listen to stories, sing simple songs, ABC’s and participate in rhymes and finger plays.
Practice identifying shapes and colors, sort and count objects.
Routinely work on independent daily living skills such as washing hands, eating snacks and “clean up.”
Practice taking turns, sharing and communicating their needs to adults and peers.
Use and improve large motor skills using a variety of equipment in our gym.
3’s Class

Your 3 year old will:
Learn that the Bible is a special book and grow deeper in their understanding of God’s love for us.
Participate in small and whole group activities that develop reading and math readiness skills.
Count and classify objects by a variety of attributes such as size and shape.
Use a variety of art materials to represent ideas about stories and respond to music.
Interact with peers in cooperative play by taking turns and sharing.
Develop motor skills, coordination, balance and rhythm through weekly gym and music classes.
Pre-K

Your Pre-K child will:
Learn that the Bible is God’s Word and that God wants us to read and learn from it daily.
Practice responding to curriculum by sharing answers, individual thoughts and comments in large and small groups.
Continue practicing letter identification, phonemic awareness, and other reading readiness skills.
Count objects to solve simple addition and subtraction problems.
Identify patterns and relationships in order to make predications in science experiments.
Use a variety of methods to solve peer conflict and express emotions appropriately.
Participate in weekly gym and music classes to develop motor skills, coordination, and rhythm.
Kindergarten
Mondays - Fridays

Your Kindergartner will:
Learn through reading God’s Word daily that they are special and loved by God. An emphasis will be placed on character, Christian principles, and memorizing scripture.
Develop as beginning readers by practicing skills that include phonemic awareness, decoding, and word recognition.
Learn comprehension strategies that allow them to respond in a variety of ways.
Grow as listeners and communicators.
Develop an understanding of number concepts and operations, algebra, geometry, and measurement.
Aim to meet or exceed Common Core State Standards.
Strengthen gross and fine motor skills through weekly gym class, daily classroom experiences, and play on our outside play structure.
Feel confident and successful as a learner.
Lunch & Play
All preschool students can extend their school days until 2:00 p.m. with Lunch & Play
$20 per class
Lunch & Play is a fun, optional, extended class that your child can participate in on the days they are in school. Lunch & Play is offered from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. and costs $20.00 per class. This class begins with time in the gym or on the playground. Here, preschoolers will practice their gross motor skills with a variety of play structures and equipment such as bikes and scooters. Teachers will encourage practicing social skills including taking turns, playing games and forming new friendships. Lunch will follow. Preschoolers will bring a packed lunch and water bottle and will have an opportunity to eat with their friends. Teachers will model table manners and introduce and guide conversational skills. After lunch, preschoolers may play outside on the playground or in the classroom with a variety of hands-on activities and learning stations. Preschoolers are encouraged to bring a coat and shoes that are safe for the gym and the outside playground.
Attendance is by sign up only. Lunch & Play sign-ups will be available beginning the last week of each month via Google Spreadsheets. You will receive an email with a link to sign up for the upcoming month. The cost is $20.00 per class. We encourage our families to sign up in advance to allow our staff time to be prepared for the number of children that will be attending.
Payment must be made at the time of signing up. If your child is ill and misses a recorded date you have paid for, you are welcome to reference that as a credit for another date in the future.
Create & Play

Create & Play combines the elements of art and play to create a dynamic and enriching learning environment for our preschoolers. Sonshine recognizes the importance of hands-on experiences, creativity, and imagination in early childhood development. Create & Play is designed for preschoolers to develop their artistic skills, while fostering their social, cognitive, physical, and emotional development in a fun and engaging way.
Create & Play will now be offered on Tuesdays for our 2-year-old classes and Wednesdays for our 3-year-old classes. Create & Play runs from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with the option to stay until 2:00 p.m. with Lunch & Play. The cost is $30.00 per Create & Play class and $20.00 for Lunch & Play.
Attendance is by sign up only. Create & Play sign-ups will be available remotely beginning the last week of each month via Google Spreadsheets. You will receive an email with a link to sign up for the upcoming month. We encourage our families to sign up in advance, as these classes fill up fast. A waitlist will be included on the sign-ups. If a spot opens up prior to the class, the waitlist will be contacted in order of sign-ups. Payment must be made at the time of signing up. .
